COMAP Introduces a Modeling Web Site
The Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications invites mathematics educators, students, and researchers to visit MATHmodels (www.mathmodels.org), a new modeling forum, where mathematicians can post modeling problems, invite student solutions, and serve as mentors.
Teachers can visit the database to find problems to use in the classroom. Students, working alone or in teams (with the help of a faculty adviser), can explore these problems and submit partial or final solution papers to the Web site. Faculty mentors (who are often the authors of submitted problems) provide feedback to the students. Outstanding student papers are selected for publication on the Web site.
Readers can find out more about this new educational resource by visiting www. mathmodels.org or calling (800) 772–6627.
